America’s New President

Donald Trump has been declared the 47th president-elect of the USA. He will be inaugurated on 20 January 2025 after taking the oath of office. He formally and legally becomes President immediately after taking the oath.

Trump defiantly pledges to continue fighting to be the next US president after the assassination attempt on 13 July at a rally in Pennsylvania. If you look closely, you can see blood on his right ear.

Donald Trump’s marriages, children, and grandchildren.

Trump has been married 3 times and has 5 legitimate children, and 10 legitimate grandchildren. He is rumoured to have cheated on all his 3 wives and to have sired many more children. It is claimed Trump has paid out large sums of money to his mistresses.

(His first wife was Ivana Trump (1977–1990), Trump married his second wife, the actress Maria Maples, in December 1993 and divorced in 1999. There is some dispute whether their daughter, Tiffany, is technically illegitimate. She was born in October, before the marriage. Trump married his current wife, Melanie, in 2005. She will become America’s “First Lady of the United States” (FLOTUS) on 20 January.)

Trump’s Background

Trump Tower, headquarters of his vast empire.

Donald Trump is 78 years old, born on 14 June 1946. His father, Fred Trump, ran a real estate business, specialising in low-priced housing in Brooklyn and Queens in New York. He inherited the company when his father died, determined to grow the business substantially.

Between 2017 and 2021 Trump was the 45th President of the United States.

In October 2023, he was fined $450 for business fraud, lying about his net worth. The full details of the judgment can be read here, https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/ny-fraud-case-damages-pay-millions-judge-engoron-rcna135283

Trump’s private aircraft

Donald Trump owns several golf courses, huge mansions, a vineyard, and a private Boeing 757. He travels extensively on his private jet. Even when president, he used his Boeing 757 instead of the official Air Force One available to all who hold that office.

Trump named his aircraft Trump Force One. Designed by himself, he claims it is more luxurious and efficient than Air Force One. However, that is disputed.

Trump promises a Revitalised America.

Having won 295 votes while Kamala Harris received 226, Trump will become the 47th president of the United States on 20 January 2025. In the speech following the election results, he used his usual charm, charisma, and enthusiastic oratory to get his audience cheering loudly at his every word. Trump gave no detail on his actual plans when in office.

Previously, he has spoken of three main objectives in making America great again.

Ending Obamacare, ending the war in Ukraine overnight, and deporting immigrants back to their homelands.

Keir Starmer compared with Donald Trump.

There are some major similarities but also many noticeable differences.

How Starmer and Trump Treat Women.

Facial expressions often show strained relationships between politicians and women. This photo clearly shows Starmer and his deputy, Angela Rayner, don’t get on.

Trump and his wife don’t appear to have a happy relationship, do they?

They appear smiling together only on the rare occasions when Trump needs to present an image of being happily married and uses his wife solely in order to ensure he gets elected as President.

Starmer uses his deputy, Angela Rayner, only when it gives him a political advantage. He previously sacked her when he thought she was getting too popular with the extreme left wing of the Labour party and the trades unions.

When over 30 local councillors resigned over Starmer’s remarks that Israel was right to “cut off power, cut off water” to Gaza, he used Rayner to help persuade them not to resign. She loyally tried to do so but was largely not successful because Isreal’s actions had killed so many people including children in hospital.

Starmer is a Lawyer not a Politician.

Sir Kier Starmer accepted, in a TV interview, that he disliked the politics of the Westminster parliament, rarely meeting with MPs in the tearooms and terraces of the House of Commons. As a former Director of Public Prosecutions, he is more comfortable in formal settings. Starmer is happiest when in conferences such as the World Economic Forum (WEF). He is not a “people person” with any sort of charisma. So different from Trump.

As with Trump, he and his colleagues, whether when in his shadow cabinet or today’s cabinet, are prone to political gaffes. Coming across often as being out-of-touch with the views of those who elected him.

Starmer received £107,105 from Labour Peer Waheed Abi “for the private office of the Prime Minister” It has been revealed that he received a No 10 pass in return. His wife received £5,000 worth of designer dresses. People don’t usually give gifts to politicians unless they are promised something in return.

At the same time Starmer proposed a no smoking ban in pub gardens, Angela Rayner choose to go abroad where she was seen smoking and partying in a way which she could not have done in the UK.

Starmer claimed that the largely peaceful and legal protests in Stockport on 29 July 2024, where 3 young girls were stabbed and murdered, were racially motivated. He forced the justice system to fast-track and sentence the “rioters” to long prison sentences. He remained silent even when it was shown that the claims by far-right groups that the perpetrators were Muslim were totally false. There is no evidence that agent-provocateurs were sent on these marches, but some believe that was a possibility.

Prime Minister Starmer has refused, as of today anyway, to sack Foreign Secretary David Lammy for his remarks that Trump is a “neo-Nazi sympathiser and psychopath”. That was clickbait when Labour was in opposition. But with Trump elected as President of the United States, and the need to have good relations with our largest trading partner, Starmer may be forced to do something.
