A Thai Biker Ran Into My Car

A Thai biker ran into my car and damaged both my car and that of another motorist. I’m an expat. The other motorist was Thai.

This is not a photo of the actual incident, but it does show what typically happens after a collision. The police arrive and take notes. Bystanders just stand around watching.

It was 3 years ago. I was in luck. A police officer was standing there and could see what happened.

The Thai motorist asked the biker for some money, took it, and left the scene.

I went to the nearby police cabin with the biker, filled in lots of forms, and then we both went on our way. The officer said the police would now formally charge the biker and I’d get back the cost of repairs to my car.

Nothing happened for several weeks. The officer told me the biker had left the country. I doubt he had.

Lesson learnt. I should have got cash from the biker in the same way the other motorist did.  When in Thailand, do things the Thai way.

  1. Have you read my post? You don’t seem to have. It was the cars that were damaged, not the people. What are your comments on the post?
